Holly Shelter 13, Roland-Grise 6

A much-anticipated showdown between the only two unbeaten teams in the county lived up to the hype.

Holly Shelter (4-0) standout two-way player Malaki Hansley-Roland ripped the ball away from a Roland-Grise runner midway through the fourth quarter and then rushed for a 30-yard touchdown to tie the score at 6-6.

The ensuing extra point from Barrett Crow sailed through the uprights, giving the visitors the lead for good.

On the final play of the game, a pass from Roland-Grise (2-1) was intercepted and returned 80 yards all the way to the end zone by Zion Thompson.

Kaiden Sidbury led the way defensively with eight tackles. 

The Knights’ lone points came on a trick play in the first half, when running back London West threw a touchdown pass to Caleb Guay.

Roland-Grise entered the game on a 23-game winning streak that dated back to 2021. 

Williston 12, Myrtle Grove 6 (2 OT)

Played Wednesday

Aayden Redd’s 7-yard rushing touchdown lifted the Tigers to a hard-fought road win. 

The game was tied 6-6 after regulation. Neither team scored in the first overtime. Myrtle Grove (1-3) started on offense in double OT, but Redd and Kayden Maxfield combined for a tackle at the goal line on fourth down to keep the score even. 

After gaining three yards on its first two plays, Williston (2-1) finished off the victory when Redd raced into the end zone. 

Damonte Russ had a team-high 90 rushing yards. 

Myrtle Grove led 6-0 at halftime thanks to a 40-yard pass from Weston Chalk to Jillian McCallum.

The Tigers evened the score on a 10-yard run from Gavin Goss in the third quarter.

Noble 22, Trask 0

Played Wednesday

The Eagles cruised on the road behind a strong performance from running back Zyire Howard, who racked up 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. 

Quarterback Wyatt Mock also threw a 45-yard TD pass to Jason Moore. 

Corbin Jones and Judson Williams both surpassed 50 rushing yards and converted a 2-point conversion. 

Noble’s (2-2) defense earned its second shutout in four games. Tanner Pierce, Logan Hocker and Donnell Reeves led the team in tackles. 

With the loss, Trask dropped to 0-3.

The Knights collected 10 hits and worked nine walks in the mercy-rule victory that kept them unbeaten.

First baseman Braelyn Buttle went 2-for-2 with a walk, double, triple, three RBI and two runs scored. Manola High also had a strong game at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored.

Micah Harris drove in three runs, while Izzy Ponce crossed the plate twice and added two RBI.

Elsie Bordeaux, Smith Edwards and Emme Sherman all scored two runs. 

Pitchers Kaleigh Jeffrey and Jordyn Lee both recorded a pair of strikeouts. 

Myrtle Grove (1-6) scored once in the first and third innings. 

Murray 19, Williston 1 (3 innings)

Played Wednesday

After scoring five runs in the top of the first inning, the Falcons added 11 in the second and three more in the third to end the contest. 

Kate Peal pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit and recording nine strikeouts. She also went 2-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and three runs scored from the leadoff spot in the lineup.

Murray (5-1) finished with 11 hits and seven walks. Addison Coniglio was 2-for-2 with a walk, hit by pitch, home run, two RBI and four runs scored. 

Malia Mehling drove in three runs. Savannah Cremer, Savannah Connell, Hallie Herring and Olivia Hester all crossed the plate twice. 

Williston (0-6) scored its lone run in the second inning.

VOLLEYBALL

St. Mark 2, Harrells Christian Academy 0 (25-18, 25-21)

Played Thursday

Rachel Gravely put down a match-high 10 kills, and the Lions rolled to a sweep. 

Madeline Fuller nearly had a double-double by finishing with 16 assists, seven aces and three kills. Fellow setter Dayla MacDonald handed out six assists. 

Kennedy Wakins served five aces and added two kills, while Millie Claire chipped in four kills.
