BASEBALL

Roland-Grise 6, Noble 3

Catcher Tristan Stewart went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, four RBI and one run scored in the home win. 

The top two batters in the Roland-Grise lineup – Walter Wishon and Judah Gillespie – both finished 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. 

Briggs Ulrich got the start and allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts.

Noble’s Brock Downing, River Whitehurst and Joseph Wright all doubled.  

Trask 4, Murray 0

Played Monday

Max Cordell was dominant on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out 13 of the 20 batters he faced.

Trask scored once in the first and third inning before adding a pair of insurance runs in the fifth. 

Cordell also went 2-for-3 at the plate with five stolen bases and two runs scored.  

Holly Shelter 8, Myrtle Grove 0

Played Monday

Pitchers Connor Stein and Kamden Williams combined on a one-hitter with nine strikeouts. 

Stein earned the win by pitching five inning and recording eight strikeouts. Williams got the final three outs. 

Holly Shelter score four runs in the top of the first inning to grab control. Stein went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one RBI and two runs scored.

Graham Reddick had two RBI, while Logan Grainger crossed the plate twice. 

Noble 14, Trask 4 (4 innings)

Played Wednesday

The Eagles evened their record by jumping out to a 9-0 lead after the first inning and finishing off the mercy-rule win on a fielder’s choice from L Gore in the fourth inning.

Brock Downing, Shay Sorrells and Joseph Wright all went 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Parker Yates scattered one hit with three strikeouts in two innings to secure the victory. 

Roland-Grise 18, Holly Shelter 3 (5 innings)

Played Wednesday

An impressive 22-hit performance gave the Knights a key victory in a battle between the co-county champions from last season. 

Tristan Stewart was 3-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases, three RBI and four runs scored.

Left fielder Doran Preville finished 4-for-4 with a double, three stolen bases, five RBI and two runs scored.

Leadoff batter Walter Wishon had three hits. Roland-Grise also got two hits a piece from Bennett Bush, Beckett Caffee, Judah Gillespie and Briggs Ulrich.

Stewart allowed one unearned run on two hits in four innings on the mound. 

Holly Shelter’s River Resnick and Connor Stein each went 2-for-3.

The Knights served 16 aces to cruise at home. 

Olivia Green, Isabella Rojas and Tessa Smith all finished with four aces.

Smith hit .538 by putting down a match-high seven kills on 13 swings without an error. Green and Caroline Ferguson had three kills a piece. 

Noble got two kills and two aces from Nevaeh Knott as well as two kills and one ace from Lindi Holt.

Myrtle Grove 2, Williston (25-13, 25-12) 

Played Wednesday

Eighth grader Victoria Garcia Morales served eight aces and added five kills and two assists to keep the Gators unbeaten.

Myrtle Grove finished with 13 aces in the first set and nine in the second set. Peyton Smallwod had five and Robin Diederich added four.

Kaleigh Church had three kills, all in the second set.

Roland-Grise 2, Holly Shelter 1 (15-25, 25-11, 15-11)

Played Wednesday

Setter Claire Carroll dished out 14 assists to help the Knights rally for a hard-fought victory.

Tessa Smith had a strong performance with six kills, five aces and four digs. Lila Laverty hit .500 with five kills.

Noble 2, Trask 0 (25-21, 25-21)

Played Wednesday

The Eagles earned a sweep by getting four kills a piece from Campbell Johnson and Nevaeh Knott.

Knott added three blocks and two of Noble’s eight aces.

Jayden Durst had three kills and two aces. Lindi Holt, Sophia Kamaris and Ella Stratman all put down two kills.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Played Wednesday

The defending county champions opened their season with an impressive win.

Leading the way offensively were Elizabeth Wilson (five goals) and Addie Coyle (three goals and two assists).

Roland-Grise also got two goals a piece from Sydney Skoblar and Brenna McWilliams as well as one from Cora Spacek.

Goalie Addison Novelli made four saves.

Noble’s Marley Andersen finished with two goals and two assists. Elizabeth Everhardt and Pippa Swicegood each had two goals, while Reagan Edwards handed out one assist.

Goalkeeper Lucy Brown (two saves) and Emily Herman (four saves) shared time.

Murray 8, Trask 3

Played Wednesday

Charlotte Bailey and Savannah Cremer both found the back of the net for the victorious Falcons.

Murray’s other goals came from Karsyn Fox, Lily Hauck, Leela Jarvis and Alison Welsh.

Goalie Kenleigh Walker turned in a strong performance.

Seven players scored in the home victory for the Hurricanes.

Presley Ormsby and Addie Stainback finished with two goals and one assist a piece.

Maggie Crumrine chipped in one goal and one assist.

Also finding the back of the net were Frances Adams, Lucy Cookson, Bella Fernandez-Villa and Maylyn Pittman.

Myrtle Grove goalie Gianna Woodle made eight saves. Ellie Coombes recorded a hat trick. Addie Cocking and Ashlyn Risley also scored.

Chase Bendy scored three goals and assisted on the other two as the Eagles prevailed on the road.

Hayden Boysen and Dodge Ray put home the other goals, while Gabe Maselli handed out three assists. 

Goalie Jaden McCallum saved six of the seven shots he faced.

The Falcons got scoring contributions from 11 different players. 

Tommy Dorry, Maksym McCabe and Jacob Smith all had hat tricks. Tristan Kight and Quinn McQueen found the back of the net twice. 

The other goals came from Jeremiah Barnett, Banks Bollinger, Jackson Cline, Gavin Derry, Cooper McDonough and Liam Schwartz. 

Standout goalie Cayden Smith was a brick wall.
