Another balanced offensive attack, which saw 10 players combine for 40 kills, allowed the Buccaneers to keep their perfect record intact.
Jenna Powe made her presence known in the fourth and fifth sets by finishing with three kills and one block in each. The senior middle had eight kills and six blocks for the match.

After splitting the opening two sets, Laney (8-0, 2-0 Carolina Coast) lost the third and trailed 16-15 in the fourth. A kill from Grace Johnson started a 10-2 run that forced a deciding set.
The teams traded points until the Buccaneers won five in a row to take a commanding 10-5 lead in the fifth. The run featured a block and kill from Powe, two kills from Johnson, and a hitting error from Ashley (8-6, 0-2).
Libero Kaitlyn Dreimann ended the match with a rare kill as she bumped the ball into an open space in the back left corner of the court.
Dreimann had 24 digs and a pair of aces. Johnson finished with nine kills, 12 digs, three aces, while Libby Harrington put down seven kills.
Both setters played well. Abbey Hendren handed out 19 assists to go along with six digs, and Mackenna Bard chipped in 12 assists and five digs.
The Screaming Eagles got a double-double of 15 kills and 12 digs from sophomore Victoria Garcia-Morales.
Rylan Putman had 35 assists and two blocks. Libero Madison Dameron came up with 20 digs. Elin Bentley finished with 10 kills, while Molly Lundberg had seven kills, eight digs, and four aces.
Both teams have home matches at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Buccaneers host Topsail, while the Screaming Eagles welcome New Bern.
No. 1 Hoggard 3, No. 14 West Brunswick 0
(25-12, 25-14, 25-11)
The Vikings opened Carolina Coast Conference play with a dominant sweep.
Ellie Keene hit .588 with 10 kills and a pair of aces, while Sydney Jarrett hit .692 by putting down nine kills on 13 swings without an error.
Hoggard (5-2, 1-0) also got 10 kills and three aces from Nora Davis.
Lily Voth dished out 23 assists and served five aces. Fellow setter Reed Gosselink added 13 assists.
The Vikings play at New Hanover on Tuesday at 6 p.m. West Brunswick (2-8, 0-2) returns home to take on North Brunswick at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
No. 11 Pender 3, Fairmont 2
(25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 16-25, 15-12)
A night after falling in five sets, the Patriots got redemption.
Setter Malorie Hardison recorded a double-double with 16 assists, 10 aces, and two aces.
Victoria Wells had a big night from the middle by putting down a team-best 19 kills to go along with five blocks and a pair of aces.
Merissa Crawford chipped in 14 digs, five kills, and four aces. Pender (6-5) also got 26 digs from Baylee Craver.
A home match against Clinton at 6 p.m. Thursday awaits the Patriots.

The Trojans defeated their county rival for the sixth time in the past seven matches.
Senior Irving Decena converted a penalty kick. The other goal was scored by classmate Melvin Bautista.
West Brunswick (5-0-1) hosts South Brunswick (1-6-1) on Tuesday night at 6.
No. 1 Hoggard 4, Jacksonville 1
A pair of goals from James Mclean lifted the Vikings to a win in their home debut.
Harry Dyer and Charlie Fatzinger also found the back of the net. Hoggard (5-0-1) held a 3-0 lead at halftime.
The Vikings welcome Pinecrest at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
No. 2 Laney 6, West Carteret 0
Cole Bardsley scored the first two goals of his career in the second half to help the Buccaneers remain unbeaten.
Laney (9-0) led 2-0 at halftime before putting the match out of reach over the final 40 minutes.
The other goals came from Ammar Alabbar, Banks Kline, Grady Luckadoo, and Max Welker.
Max Borelli, Van Israel, Landon Reese, Joel Rivera Espinosa, and Andres Torres Romero all handed out one assist.
Goalkeeper Zach Rice earned the clean sheet by saving all four shots he faced.
The Buccaneers welcome Croatan on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
No. 12 Pender 12, South Columbus 0
Nine players scored in the mercy-rule victory that ended at halftime.
Rolex Rodriguez finished with two goals and four assists. Eduardo Morales also scored twice and handed out one assist.
Pender (3-3) got one goal and one assist from Joseph Espinoza, Fernando Juarez, and Griffin Kinney.
Jonathan Gomez, Oscar Hernandez, Cody Rivera, and Adrian Torres also found the back of the net.
Next up is a home match against West Bladen at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Senior Michael Enriquez of New Hanover held off a slew of Hoggard runners to capture the second Carolina Coast Conference meet of the young season.
Enriquez just missed out on breaking the 16-minute mark by finishing in 16:01.66.
Hoggard had the next five finishers. That group was led by Ralph Pfeil (16:11.23) and Thomas Futch (16:21.90). The next three were separated by just three seconds – Gabe Nalepa (17:18.61), Abram Baker (17:19.05), and Ethan Cox (17:21.67).

Two-time Coastal Preps runner of the Year Mia Medlin of Hoggard secured a four-second victory to help her team cruise to the meet win.
Medlin had a time of 18:19.91. She was followed by Ashley’s Lexi George, who crossed the finish line in 18:23.92.
Rounding out the top five were Topsail’s Molly Corcoran (18:28.31), Ashley’s Hayley Ervin (18:33.71), and New Hanover’s Emma Rogers (18:46.55).
The other counting scores for the Vikings came from Valentina Butler (sixth in 19:48.66), Emily Singler (ninth in 20:03.34), Nealie Ruttkay (11th in 20:14.93), and Elise Hunneyman (12th in 20:40.18).

Stella DeSelms (No. 1), Celine Mouney (No. 2), and Ava Meacham (No. 3) all cruised to 8-0 victories in the home sweep.
The other three singles points came from Elizabeth Pace (8-2 at No. 4), Elsa Dahlbeck Morin (8-4 at No. 5), and Briley Foster (8-1 at No. 6).
Laney’s (2-2, 2-2 Carolina Coast) top two doubles teams of DeSelms/Mouney and Meacham/Pace had identical 8-1 scores. Dahlbeck Morin and Foster won 8-4 at No. 3.
The Buccaneers host Topsail on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Ashley (3-2, 3-2) visits Hoggard at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
New Hanover 9, Pinecrest 0
The unbeaten Wildcats didn’t drop a set on the road to improve to 11-0.
Laynie Fortun prevailed by a score of 6-3, 7-6(8) at No. 4 singles. She later teamed up with Lila Brown at No. 2 doubles, and the duo only dropped one game.
New Hanover (11-0) also got singles points from Elizabeth Sifly (6-0, 6-3 at No. 1), Yaren Aslanturk (6-1, 6-1 at No. 2), Emma Miller Buchanan (6-2, 6-1 at No. 3), Maggie Hooks (6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) and Elizabeth Lewis (6-1, 6-0 at No. 6).
Sifly and Buchanan won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Hooks and Virginia Breeden earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
The Wildcats host Hoggard at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
