Cape Fear Ghost Crabs 11, Laurinburg Highland Hooligans 1 (7 innings)

The momentum from Monday night’s comeback carried into Tuesday, as the visiting Ghost Crabs collected 11 hits and scored in six of their seven trips to the plate in the mercy-rule victory. 

Drew Beard (Lenoir-Rhyne) had a big night at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored. 

Julian King and Drew Nye (Highland CC) also doubled, while Kayden Leck (Owens CC) belted a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to complete the scoring.

Starting pitcher Dylan Stacks (North Brunswick) scattered four hits with two strikeouts in four scoreless innings. Aiden McBride (Southeastern CC/Hoggard) pitched two innings, and Sean Doty (Southeastern CC) recorded the final three outs. 

Cape Fear (2-0, 2-0 Coastal Division) scored once in the first inning and then added four insurance runs in the second. Brenner Gursky (Brunswick CC) singled home Will Jones (WCA). Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/WCA) followed with a two-run single to make it 5-0.

Beard and Stacks had back-to-back RBI base hits in the fifth inning. Gavin Marceric (Tiffin), who had the game-winning hit in the season opener, drove in another run with a groundout in the sixth.
