Ten players combined for 14 hits, and pitchers Brent Avery (Bluefield/Ashley) and Zach Steagall (Brunswick CC/West Brunswick) recorded nine strikeouts in a road victory.
Avery started and allowed the lone run on four hits with six strikeouts in five innings. He turned things over to Steagall, who struck out three batters in his four innings.
Steagall has yet to allow a run in six innings out of the bullpen.

The 14 hits were a season high for Cape Fear (7-2, 5-1 Coastal Division), which raised its team batting average to an impressive .293.
Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/WCA) went 2-for-4 with a double, four stolen bases, and three runs scored.
UNC Greensboro signee Dylan Stacks (North Brunswick), Brock Polilli (Tiffin, Ohio), and Will Jones (WCA) all finished with a pair of hits.
Pierce beat out an infield single to open the game and scored on a base hit to right field from Drew Beard (Lenoir-Rhyne), who leads the team with a .440 average.
A one-out double from Kayden Leck (Owens CC, Ohio) allowed Beard and Stacks to cross the plate and increase the lead to 3-0.
Brenner Gursky (Brunswick CC) doubled home Jones an inning later. In the sixth, Polilli came through with an RBI single.
The visitors tacked on two more insurance runs in the seventh inning and finished the scoring in the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Gavin Marceric (Tiffin, Ohio).
Oak Island (4-3, 4-3) scored its lone run in the fourth inning. Max Guenther (Moberly Area CC, Mo.) doubled. He advanced to third base on an infield single from Abe Fenwick (Charleston, W. Va.) and came home on another hit from Ayden Cline (Missouri St. Louis).
Guenther was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Matthew Perez (Catawba Valley CC) finished 2-for-4.
