On the day it was announced that he was selected to the Old North State League All-Star Game, Ghost Crabs center fielder Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/WCA) went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead his team to a mercy-rule home victory.

Pierce put Cape Fear (15-6, 13-5 Coastal Division) on top for good with a two-run line drive single to left field in the bottom of the third inning. Jack Holliman (Pitt CC/Laney) worked a leadoff walk, and Will Jones (WCA) followed with a double.

Back-to-back sacrifice flies from Gavin Marceric (Tiffin, Ohio) and Drew Beard (Lenoir-Rhyne) allowed Piece to cross the plate. Jack Cuba walked and eventually scored on a throwing error to increase the lead to 4-1.

Cuba and Jones both scored twice.

The other seven runs for the Ghost Crabs came in the eighth inning to end the game early.

Cuba had an RBI single, while Julian King (St. Maarten), Quinlan Keefe (Manhattan, N.Y.), and Brock Polilli (Tiffin, Ohio) walked with the bases loaded. Ryan Seagroves (Brunswick CC) hit a sacrifice fly to plate Kayden Leck (Owens CC, Ohio).

A wild pitch allowed Keefe to cross the plate with the final run.

A pair of local pitchers – Dylan Stacks (North Brunswick) and Aiden McBride (Southeastern CC/Hoggard) – combined to strike out six batters.

Stacks earned the win by allowing one unearned run with four strikeouts in six innings. McBride retired six of the seven batters he faced.

Catcher Brenner Gursky (Brunswick CC) and pitcher Davis Watson (Lynchburg, Va.) were the other Ghost Crab players selected for the All-Star Game.
