Cape Fear Ghost Crabs 10, New Bern Southpaws 3 (7 innings)

Eight of the nine starters collected a hit, and the Ghost Crabs scored in five of their six trips to the plate to secure a non-division victory.

Coleman Cross (West Virginia Wesleyan/Ashley), Jack Cuba (Catawba/New Hanover), Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/WCA), and Ryan Seagroves (Brunswick CC) all had two hits.

Cape Fear (19-8) scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. After two quick outs, Gavin Marceric (Tiffin, Ohio) and Cuba recorded back-to-back singles.

Kayden Leck (Owens CC, Ohio) tied the score at 2-2 with a base hit of his own. Quinlan Keefe (Manhattan, N.Y.) followed with a two-run triple to left field.

Pierce singled home Cross and Julian King (St. Maarten) an inning later to increase the lead to 6-2. Pierce also increased his league-leading stolen base total to 33 by swiping a pair of bags.

The Ghost Crabs later got RBI singles from Drew Nye (Highland CC, Kan.) in the fifth as well as from Seagroves and Cuba in the sixth.

Starting pitcher Kody Romero (UNC Pembroke) allowed only one earned run with four strikeouts in five innings to earn the win. Noah Swanson (Southeastern CC/Ashley) was terrific in his debut, striking out a pair of batters in two scoreless innings.
