Cape Fear Ghost Crabs 9 Jacksonville Ospreys 6

For the second night in a row, the Ghost Grabs grabbed the lead in the eighth inning to secure a key Coastal Division victory.

Ryan Seagroves (Brunswick CC) cleared the bases with a double down the left field to give Cape Fear (23-10, 20-9) an 8-5 lead. Earlier in the inning, Kayden Leck (Owens CC, Ohio) tied the score with a base hit.

With the win, the Ghost Crabs clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the upcoming playoffs.

A sacrifice fly from Jack Cuba (Catawba/New Hanover) in the top of the first inning gave Cape Fear an early lead, but Jacksonville (20-10, 17-10) answered back with two runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Ghost Crabs loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning on consecutive singles from Julian King (St. Maarten), Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/WCA), and Gavin Marceric (Tiffin, Ohio).

An error followed by a sacrifice fly from Will Jones (WCA) allowed Cape Fear to regain the lead.

The Ospreys again answered right away with two runs of their own and then grabbed a 5-4 advantage with a two-out RBI single in the fourth inning.

The score remained the same until the eighth, when the Ghost Crabs sent nine batters to the plate.
