Wilmington Post 10 6, Hampstead Post 167 1

Tyler Jumper (Hoggard) didn’t allow a hit and recorded three strikeouts in four stellar innings to lead Wilmington to a road victory.

The other two pitchers – Aiden McBride (Hoggard) and Preston Smith (Hoggard) – also struck out three batters a piece.

Wilmington (7-1, 1-0 Area II South) finished with nine hits from seven players. Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC/Wilmington Christian Academy) and Nate Carmack (Ashley) both had a pair and scored a run.

A two-out hit from Nikita Sutherland (Hoggard) allowed Patrick Boldt (South Brunswick) to score the game’s first run in the second inning. The visitors added four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

The sixth inning began with a double from Chase Buscher (Hoggard) followed by back-to-back base hits from Caleb Robles (New Hanover) and Pierce. Jonah Harker (Hoggard) completed the scoring with an RBI single.

Hampstead’s (4-2, 0-2) run came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Gavin Schoenwiesner’s (Topsail) two-out double plated Cooper Nifong (Topsail).

Tabor City Post 507 10, Hope Mills Post 32 0 (5 innings)

Rowen Simpson (South Columbus) scattered two hits and struck out seven batters in a complete game as Tabor City avenged its only loss.

Cole Edge (South Columbus) finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. He led off the bottom of the third inning with a double and advanced to third base on an error in the outfield.

Luke Odham (Whiteville) followed with an RBI single that put Tabor City (3-1) on top.

Edge doubled home two runs an inning later to increase the lead to 6-0. Odham ended the game by mercy rule with a double to left field.

Daquan Cox (South Columbus) and Matthew Hannah (Whiteville) both had a single, stolen base and two runs scored.
