Now that most of the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you’ve gotten to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls tennis, girls golf, boys and girls cross country, boys soccer and volleyball.

The Coastal Preps Volleyball Player of the Year is senior Ryan Lambert from Topsail.

Ryan’s Accomplishments

It didn’t take long for Ryan Lambert to make an immediate impact on several athletic programs when she arrived at Topsail as a freshman.

The three-sport standout (volleyball, basketball for two seasons, and soccer) will go down as one of the school’s all-time greatest athletes. 

In her final season on the volleyball court, Lambert hit .308 with an area-best 341 kills to help the Pirates finish 23-2 overall and 13-1 in the Mideastern Conference.

Topsail claimed its first MEC Tournament title in thrilling fashion by rallying from two sets down for a five-set victory over Hoggard.

Lambert also finished with 226 digs and 62 aces. She put down at least 10 kills in 18 matches, including a season-high 25 in a sweep against Coastal Christian on August 16.

She had a remarkable 958 kills over the course of her career.

Lambert will continue her career at LSU as a member of the beach volleyball team.

Favorite thing about your school or team: My teammates are the best people ever, and I love how close we have gotten this season on and off the court.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals? If so, what are they?: I have to have my hair in two dutch braids and a ponytail or I play badly. Eating a Chicken Caesar salad makes me play better. I also always drink a Raspberry Acai Non-Carbonated Celsius before every game. 

What app on your phone do you use the most?: TikTok

Where is one place you’ve never been that you’d like to visit?: Italy

Are you a planner or do you go with the flow?: Definitely depends on the day.

What is your favorite way to relax?: On my bed watching a movie or taking a nap.

Would you rather be able to breathe underwater or fly?: Fly

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?: To focus on the things you can control instead of worrying about what you can’t.

What are 3 things you are grateful for in your life?: My family, my friends, and food.

Do you prefer to shop online or in person?: In person

Have you lived in the same house your entire life? If not, how many houses have you lived in?: I have lived in three houses. One in New Jersey, one in Maryland, and my current one.
