Just like it had done in the previous three races, Noble had the top three finishers to cruise to a team victory and receive seven Coastal Preps Cup points. 

Lindi Holt was the winner again with a time of 12:55.89. Fellow eighth grader Emily Singer made a late push, but finished as the runner-up in 12:56.13.

Noble also counted scores from Talley Obernuefemann (third in 13:15.88), Eleanor Beery (fifth in 13:30.28) and Julia Pepper (seventh in 13:35.58). 

Roland-Grise got a fourth-place finish from seventh-grader Nealy Ruttkay (13:20.66).

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Murray claimed the team victory and seven Coastal Preps Cup points by placing three runners inside the top 10. 

Lucas Ertl led the way with a third-place finish in 11:32.08. He was followed by teammate Maksym McCabe (11:46.02).

The other counting scores for the Falcons came from Kaleb Stubbs (sixth in 12:01.28), Gavin Derry (12th in 12:36.46) and Liam Towne (13th in 12:37.03). 

Eighth grader Ethan Cox of Roland-Grise capped a perfect season by winning his fourth consecutive race. He completed the course in 11:29.09 to narrowly hold off Noble’s Nolan Smyth, who had a time of 11:30.50.

Rounding out the top five was Roland-Grise’s Van Sharpe (11:53.47).

The Bears stopped a 2-point conversion in overtime to secure the hard-fought win in a game that was played at Laney High School.

Max Cordell, Mally Hansley-Roland and Jackson Cosimo scored Trask’s (4-1) touchdowns. 

Next up is a road game at Roland-Grise on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Holly Shelter (3-2) will look to bounce back when it travels to Murray at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Standout running back Caiden Soto finished with 157 yards and three touchdowns to help the Falcons keep the Junction Bowl trophy. 

Soto opened the scoring with a 43-yard run midway through the opening quarter. He added touchdown runs of 17 and 4 yards and also converted three 2-point conversions. 

Murray’s (2-3) other six points came on a 39-yard pass from Amari Gaines to Matty Perrone. 

Caroline Smist and Cayden Smith led the way defensively with five tackles. 

Both teams will be back in action again Wednesday. The Falcons host Holly Shelter at 4:30 p.m., while Myrtle Grove (0-5) visits Virgo at 4 p.m.  

Noble 22, Virgo 14

The Eagles remained tied for second in the county standings with a hard-fought road win. 

Colton Hearn and Gabe Maselli both had rushing touchdowns. Noble (4-1) quarterback Wyatt Mock connected with Logan Evans for a 37-yard score.

Quindyn Waddell and Logan Evans each forced a fumble, which were recovered by Ka’zotti Harlee and Ahmir Tindall. Fellow defenders Max Bell, Trey Melvin and David Rios had some hard hits. 

The Eagles host Williston at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, while Virgo (0-5) welcomes Myrtle Grove on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Roland-Grise 48, Williston 0

For the second week in a row, the Knights rolled by not allowing a first down. 

It was the fourth consecutive shutout win for Roland-Grise (5-0), which has now outscored its opponents 184-6.

Judah Gillespie returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Beckett Caffey made a tackle in the end zone for a safety. Zachary McKoy came up with a handful of sacks. 

The Knights also got touchdowns from Caffey, Damerion Ellis, Elijah Jordan, Briggs Ulrich and Walter Wishon. 

A home game against Trask on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. is next up for Roland-Grise. Williston (2-3) travels to Noble at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Pitcher Sydney Perry turned in a dominant performance by allowing an unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts in a complete game. 

Roland-Grise scored three runs in the top of the first inning to grab a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. The visitors tacked on six runs in the third and five more in the fourth.

Lyla Weninger nearly hit for the cycle by finishing 4-for-4 with a single, triple, home run and four RBI. Perry was 2-for-3 with a walk, double and three RBI from the leadoff spot.

Brooklyn McLeod and Olivia Perry both drove in two runs and scored once, while Kayleigh Jeffrey worked three walks and scored each time. 

Campbell Johnson had both hits and scored the lone run for Noble.

Holly Shelter 19, Myrtle Grove 9 (4 innings)

An 11-run bottom of the first inning proved to be the difference for the victorious Hurricanes.

Thirteen Holly Shelter players scored at least one run. Hailey Burk crossed the plate three times. Emma Eastmond, Sienna Messina, Kinsley Sliva and Avery Working scored two runs a piece.

Myrtle Grove got a triple from Riley Andrews as well as doubles from Atyia Johnson and Brooklyn Tillman.

Kasey Fussell singled twice, while Reagan Hawkins and Aaliyah Yancey both finished with one.

Trask 17, Murray 0 (4 innings)

Center fielder Nay Holmes went 3-for-3 with a walk, four RBI and three runs scored in a mercy-rule road win. 

Trask finished with 13 hits. Cyra Cribbin was 4-for-4 with a double, five RBI and one run scored. Alaina Peterson also had a solid day at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a three-run inside-the-park home run in the second inning that increased the lead to 10-0.

Peterson threw a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. 

Brooklyn Quitman drove in three runs and crossed the plate three times. Natalie Grubbs and Sophia Stiller each scored twice. 

Murray’s hits came from Addie Coniglio, Kaylee Lachappelle, Malia Mehling and Ella Zeisloft. 

Trask 3, Noble 0

The Bears maintained their one-game lead over Roland-Grise in the standings behind a stellar performance in the circle from Alaina Peterson.

Nay Holmes worked a walk and eventually came around to score the winning run in the top of the third inning. Trask (8-1) tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth. 

Sailor Martin, Juliana Stevens, Payton Waits and Lawyn Williamson had Noble’s (4-5) hits. 

Myrtle Grove 17, Williston 14 (4 innings)

After falling behind 12-8 after two innings, the Gators scored nine runs in the bottom of the third to grab the lead for good. 

Sixth grader Madyleine Davidson earned her first career victory by striking out six batters in 2 2/3 inning of relief. She allowed two runs on two hits. 

Myrtle Grove (2-7) collected eight hits, including a single and triple from Riley Andrews. She also drew a walk, drove in two runs and crossed the plate four times.  

Davidson, Jalynn Boynton, Kasey Fussell, Raegan Hawkins, Amayah Rodriguez and Brooklyn Tillman all singled.

Fussell had three RBI and three runs scored. Hawkins, Rodriguez, Tillman and Atyia Johnson scored two runs a piece. 

Williston (0-8) was led by standout eighth grader Mackenzie Cuba, who finished 2-for-2 with a walk, double, triple, three RBI and three runs scored. 

Roland-Grise 10, Holly Shelter 2

The Knights got 10 hits from seven players and scored in every inning except the first to complete the season sweep.

Lyla Weninger led the way offensively for Roland-Grise (6-2) by going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, home run and two runs scored. Hadley Carpenter and Sydney Perry both finished 2-for-3 

Perry tripled and drove in two runs, while Carpenter crossed the plate twice. Perry also earned the victory in the circle by allowing two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts. 

Holly Shelter’s (5-4) Sienna Messina tripled home Hailey Burk in the fourth inning and then scored on a wild pitch.
