2025 Girls Soccer Defensive Player of the Year: Naomi Shanewise
Now that the spring sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next two weeks, you will get to know more about the players of the year, while also seeing who made first and second team in boys tennis, boys golf, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls track & field, softball, girls soccer and baseball.
The Coastal Preps Girls Soccer Defensive Player of the Year is sophomore Naomi Shanewise from Cape Fear Academy.
Naomi’s Accomplishments
The Cape Fear Academy soccer team competed in the NCISAA 3A State Championship match for a second straight season thanks in large part to the play of goalkeeper Naomi Shanewise.
In 1,645 minutes over 21 contests, Shanewise allowed only 14 goals and made 68 saves.
The sophomore opened the season with four consecutive clean sheets and finished with an impressive 14, including three in a row in the playoffs.
Shanewise recorded a season-high nine saves against Charlotte Latin on April 29.
