2026 Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year: Maizie Lewis
Now that the spring sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in boys golf, boys tennis, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls track & field, girls soccer, softball, and baseball.
The Coastal Preps Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year is sophomore Maizie Lewis from New Hanover.
Maizie’s Accomplishments
It was a historic season for the New Hanover girls lacrosse team, and a lot of that success came because of the stellar play of Maizie Lewis.
The sophomore led the Carolina Coast Conference in points with 123 by scoring 99 goals and dishing out 24 assists.
Lewis scored a career-best 11 goals in a 21-13 victory over Cape Fear Academy on March 10. She finished with at least five points in 14 of 24 games.
New Hanover went 21-3 overall and captured its first-ever conference title with a 13-1 mark. The Wildcats swept rival Hoggard for the first time with a pair of thrilling victories (9-8 and 13-12).
After receiving an opening-round bye in the NCHSAA 7A playoffs, New Hanover cruised to wins over Garner (22-0) and Ashley (16-6) to reach the fourth round. It was the deepest playoff run in playoff history.

Do you have a sweet tooth? If so, what is your favorite treat?: I do, and I love ice cream.
What 3 items would you bring with you to a deserted island?: A boat, my phone, and a friend.
What is your favorite milkshake flavor from Cook Out?: Cookies and Cream
What is one thing you want people to know about you besides being a great athlete?: One thing I’d want people to know about me is that I care a lot about the people around me. I love spending time with my friends, making memories, and being someone they can count on. I try to bring positive energy wherever I go and support the people who are important to me. That’s a big part of who I am outside of sports.
