Now that most of the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls tennis, girls golf, boys and girls cross country, boys soccer and volleyball.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Coastal Preps Girls Golfer of the Year is senior Ellie Hildreth from Hoggard.
Ellie’s Accomplishments
Driven. Successful. Humble. Leader.
Those are just a few of the many words that come to mind when describing Ellie Hildreth.
The N.C. State signee capped one of the greatest careers of any area high school golfer by winning all nine Mideastern Conference matches without finishing with an over-par score.
Hildreth won her fourth consecutive MEC Championship after shooting 72 at Porters Neck Country Club.
She went on to claim the 4A East Regional title with a round of 69, and then placed 11th a week later at the 4A State Championship (76-73). It was her fourth straight top-13 finish.
Her season scoring average was a remarkable 71, which included three rounds in the 60s.
Over the course of her career, Hildreth helped Hoggard go undefeated in conference matches. She won 32 of those 34 matches, with both defeats coming by one stroke in 9-hole rounds.
The Vikings claimed three consecutive 4A East titles and finished eighth at the 4A State Championship this fall.
