Top 25 Trask football players of the 2000s
Over the next 10 days, I’ll be releasing my list of the top 25 football players since 2000 from each public high school in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. Players won’t be ranked 1-25, but instead will be listed in alphabetical order.
Quarterback Tyrease Armstrong
Graduated in 2018
True dual-threat quarterback broke onto the scene as a sophomore by throwing for 816 yards and 10 TDs and rushing for 316 yards and five more scores. He had 588 passing yards, 544 rushing yards and 16 total TDs as a junior. Armstrong missed his entire senior season with a torn ACL.
Defensive back Tiyuan Ballard
Graduated in 2018
As a senior, Ballard made 89 tackles and came down with five interceptions.
Running back/linebacker Brandon Bannerman
Graduated in 2023
Made a huge impact on both sides of the ball during his senior season after transferring in from SW Onslow. Is currently playing baseball at Lenoir CC after spending one season at Longwood.
Defensive lineman Kansas Bannerman
Graduated in 2017
Over his final three seasons, Bannerman had 158 tackles and 17 sacks. His best year came as a junior when he came up with 72 tackles, eight sacks and two fumble recoveries.
Quarterback Justin Bland
Graduated in 2006
In his final season, Bland threw for 935 yards and rushed for 788 more. He also accounted for 19 touchdowns.
Running back/defensive back Keyron Bromelle
Graduated in 2006
Bromelle intercepted five passes and returned two of them for touchdowns as a senior. He also rushed for 880 yards on 125 carries.
Running back/linebacker Antonio Carr
Graduated in 2019
Capped his career by rushing for 770 yards and eight TDs in 2018.
Quarterback/defensive back Jamiel Davis
Graduated in 2023
Had 108 carries for 423 yards and six TDs during his junior season. As a senior, he tied for the NCHSAA record for most interceptions in a game with five in a 14-8 win over East Columbus.

Running back/defensive back O’Mariyan Ennis
Graduated in 2023
Key two-way player on the 2022 team that tied a school record with eight wins and won the first playoff game since 2009.
Offensive lineman/defensive lineman Gio Driggers
Graduates in 2027
In just two seasons, Driggers has already cemented himself as one of the most physically intimidating players in school history.

Running back/linebacker Asher Eason
Graduated in 2025
Hard-hitting linebacker was a multi-year starter on both sides of the ball. Won more than 100 wrestling matches and finished fourth at the 2A State Championship as a senior.
Running back/linebacker D’Andre Faison
Graduated in 2005
Impact two-way player who helped the Titans finish 6-6 in just its second and third seasons. As a junior, Faison had 70 tackles (14 for loss) and seven sacks.
Running back/defensive lineman Sherrod Henderson
Graduated in 2025
In addition to surpassing the 1,000 yard mark and scoring nine touchdowns, Henderson also had 80 tackles and 11 sacks as a senior. A year prior, he rushed for more than 1,250 yards and 13 TDs while also recording 75 tackles and 12 sacks. Will continue his career at Virginia Tech.

Quarterback Jake Johnson
Graduated in 2019
Did a great job running the triple option attack. As a senior, Johnson rushed for 1,168 yards and 18 TDs. He completed four passes with two resulting in touchdowns.
Wide receiver Jaquan Johnson
Graduated in 2008
Was the favorite target of quarterback Josh Wiggins during the 2007 season. Johnson had 415 receiving yards and eight TDs.
Running back/defensive back BJ Jordan
Graduated in 2019
Averaged 7.1 yards per carry (211 for 1,507 yards) during his two seasons with the Titans. Jordan also scored 22 touchdowns. On defense, he had 131 tackles and a pair of interceptions. Transferred to SW Onlsow for his senior season and played collegiately at Allan Hancock.
Running back Desmond Jordan
Graduated in 2004
A member of Trask’s second graduating class, Jordan rushed for 1,477 yards and 11 TDs as a senior and 1,545 yards as a junior. Played collegiately at Guilford and Winston-Salem State.
Offensive lineman/defensive lineman EJ Jordan
Graduated in 2005
Jordan was also a standout wrestler who finished third at heavyweight as a senior.
Running back/linebacker Steven Jordan
Graduated in 2017
A four-year member of the varsity team, Jordan finished his career with impressive stats on both sides of the ball. He rushed for 2,212 yards and 23 TDs, while also coming up with 139 tackles and two interceptions.
Running back Dominique Lesine
Graduated in 2010
Was instrumental in guiding the Titans to the first playoff victory in program history. During the 2009 season, Lesine rushed for more than 1,600 yards and 12 TDs.
Linebacker Gavin Longley
Graduated in 2018
Over his final two seasons, Longler had 104 tackles. He had 72 tackles and a team-high 11.5 sacks in 2017 to help Trask win a school record eight games.
Running back/defensive lineman Lynwood Pickett
Graduated in 2010
Recorded more than 100 tackles and seven sacks during his senior season. He also recovered three fumbles. Played collegiately at Ferrum.
Linebacker Mac Richardson
Graduated in 2019
Had a monster senior season in which he recorded 109 tackles, including 19 for loss. Richardson also had three sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Quarterback Josh Wiggins
Graduated in 2009
School record holder for passing yards with 3,147. He threw 16 touchdown passes during his junior year. Played collegiately at Davidson.
Linebacker Foster Williamson
Graduated in 2019
Incredibly talented linebacker finished with 390 tackles over his final three seasons. Williamson had 115 tackles, including 19 for loss, and a pair of fumble recoveries as a senior.
