GIRLS TENNIS

Coastal Christian 8, Fayetteville Christian School 1

The Centurions opened the season with a dominant road victory thanks to five 8-0 singles victories.

DK Britt (No. 2), Elsa Johnson (No. 4), Lindsey King (No. 5) and Hailey Martin (No. 6) didn’t drop a game. Savannah Spears picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3.

Coastal Christian (1-0) also swept doubles. Britt teamed with Evelyn Kent for an 8-3 victory at No. 1 and Spears and Martin picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2. King and Emily White dominated with an 8-0 victory.

Next up for the Centurions is a home match against Southeastern Homeschool on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Althea Gibson Tennis Complex.

BOYS SOCCER

Wilmington Christian Academy 3, Southeastern Homeschool 1

Riley Hack, Elijah Harmon and Hayden Plotner all found the back of the net to help the Patriots pick up a home win in their season debut.

Ben Hawes had a pair of assists and Caleb Wicks added the other. Goalkeeper Ben Arbogast finished with nine saves for WCA (1-0), which finished with 16 total shots.

Southeastern Homeschool’s (1-2) lone goal came from JW Long off an assist from goalkeeper Davidson Good, who also finished with nine saves. 

WCA hosts Bethel Christian Academy on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Cardinals are back in action Thursday night at 7 p.m. at East Wake Homeschool.
