Outside hitter Emily Batts recorded a double-double with 17 kills, 13 digs and four assists to help the Cardinals avenge an earlier-season loss.
Southeastern Homeschool (12-1, 1-3 NCHEAC East) also got 23 assists, eight digs, six kills, two aces and two blocks from Alana Surigao.
Freshman Hannah Whaley came up with 14 digs to go along with two aces and two blocks. Maddy Evans chipped in seven kills and three blocks, while Rebekah Smith finished with five digs, three aces and three assists.
Next up are matches against Greensboro Homeschool and Wilmington Christian Academy on Saturday.
Davidson Day 3, No. 6 Cape Fear Academy 1
25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 25-20
The Hurricanes fell in a nonconference home match despite getting nine kills, three blocks and three digs from Addie Firkry.
Lila Hammer handed out 18 assists to go along with five digs, while Mary Ryan Campbell came up with 19 digs and served six aces.
Bertie Brookes recorded a double-double by finishing with 11 assists, 10 digs, five kills and two blocks. Edie Brooke Bartlett put down six kills and added eight digs.
CFA (11-4) welcomes Parrott Academy on Tuesday night at 6.
BOYS SOCCER
No. 6 Cape Fear Academy 3, Davidson Day 0
Rowan Forkin scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the fifth minute.
This was a rematch of last year’s NCISAA 3A State Championship match, which Davidson Day won by a score of 1-0.
The Hurricanes will look to increase their winning streak to seven when they host Parrott Academy at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Hoggard had an excellent performance as one of the most prestigious events in the state, finishing third out of 79 teams.
Junior Mia Medlin completed the course in 18:00.94, which was her second fastest time of the season. She was fourth out of 368 participants.
The Vikings also got top-50 finishes from Valentina Butler (33rd in 19:29.21), Emily Singer (36th in 19:32.87), Vella Meadows (43rd in 19:43.17) and Alice Jones (44th in 19:46.84).

Topsail’s Molly Corcoran was the lone area runner to compete in the race of champions. The sophomore was 105th out of 362 with a time of 19:01.20.
Her teammates ran in the red race and finished eighth out of 56 teams. Coastal Christian placed 16th.
The top area finisher was Coastal Christian’s Miranda Short, whose time of 19:41.10 was good enough for fifth place out of 336 participants.
Topsail got top-100 finishes from Abigail Roberts (36th in 20:56.70), Sophia Norris (47th in 21:17.30), Payleigh Newbill (62nd in 21:32.10) and Abigail O’Reilly (91st in 22:03.90).
In the blue race, Cape Fear Academy’s Kylie Petrides placed 10th out of 400 by crossing the finish line in 19:04.60. Teammate Emm Gibbs was 81st (20:23.90).
Laney was 17th out of 65 teams, while CFA was 36th.
The Buccaneers were led by Kendall Harrell (85th in 20:28.10) and Lily Stasio (86th in 20:30.90).

Riley Kiziah of Hoggard had an incredible performance by finishing third out of 369 participants with a time of 15:50.17.
The Vikings were fifth among 89 participating teams.
Gabriel Archibald was 18th in 16:13.43, Ralph Pfeil placed 29th in 16:24.00 and Joel Aiken finished 52nd in 16:44.97.

Three area runners were among the 380 who participated in the race of champions.
Topsail sophomore Grayson Dill ran the fastest time in the area this season (15:10.40) to finish ninth. Teammate Owen Reece was 35th after crossing the finish line in 15:34.10, which was a season best.
Corban Cazier of Coastal Christian also ran well, finishing 50th (15:45.60).
Topsail was 15th and Coastal Christian was 18th out of 61 teams in the red race.
Both teams had three competitors place inside the top 100. Coastal Christian’s Grayson Brazik was third out of 436 with a time of 16:24.60. Cole Williamson (28th in 17:09.30) and Trey Coble (87th in 17:58.70) also had strong performances.
Topsail’s top finishers were Brennan Johnson (49th in 17:32.50), Orin Gray (71st in 17:51.80) and Chase Crucitti (79th in 17:55.70).
New Hanover’s Michael Enriquez was 22nd out of 539 runners in the blue race. He completed the course in 16:04.60.
