2025 Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year: Mia Medlin

Now that the fall sports season has come to a close, it’s time to reveal the All-Coastal Preps teams. Over the next week, you will get to know more about the players of the year while also seeing who made first and second team in girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, boys soccer, volleyball, football and girls flag football.

For the second year in a row, the Coastal Preps Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year is junior Mia Medlin from Hoggard.

Mia’s Accomplishments

It doesn’t take long for Mia Medlin to get to the front of the pack during cross country races. Once she’s there, she typically continues to pull away from her competitors.

At the Carolina Coast Conference Championship, Medlin’s winning time of 17:37.43 was more than a minute faster than runner-up Molly Corcoran of Topsail (18:54.73).

The junior also captured the New Hanover County Championship by 36 seconds. She had the six fastest times in the area this season.

Medlin’s success carried into the postseason. After finishing fifth at the NCHSAA 8A East Regional, she was second at the state championship with an impressive time of 18:10.22. Medlin finished third as a sophomore and 23rd as a freshman.
