Haddon’s Accomplishments

The Southeastern Homeschool boys tennis team continued to show why it’s one of the area’s best by finishing 12-2 with an impressive 8-1 victory over rival and NCISAA Division II runner-up Cape Fear Academy.

Both losses came against Myrtle Beach, which claimed the 5A Division II state title in South Carolina.

Leading the way from the top spot in the singles lineup was Haddon Bebb. The talented junior had an overall record of 19-6 (10-4 in singles and 9-2 in doubles).

Bebb won 12 singles sets by a score of 6-0 or 6-1 and cruised to 8-0 or 8-1 victories in five doubles contests.

His most thrilling win came by a score of 6-0, 3-6, 11-9 to help the Cardinals earn a 5-4 victory over Fike on March 14.

More about Haddon

Favorite Restaurant(s): Chipotle

Favorite Athlete(s): Lorenzo Musetti and Ugo Humbert

Favorite memory from this season: Beating Wilson Fike. It was our first competitive match, and our team started really strong and really loud. It was awesome to see the work pay off.

Favorite memory from your career: Josh (Bebb) sealing the Cardinals’ comeback (down 4-1) win against Cape Fear Academy last year by winning a third-set breaker while he was cramping.

Favorite thing about your school or team: My favorite thing about the Cardinals tennis team is that everybody is willing to run sprints after practice. It shows that everyone is willing to put in the work even when they are tired, and it pays off big time in matches.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals? If so, what are they?: I eat Chipotle or Tropical Smoothie three hours before matches if possible; if I hit a winner, I always play with that ball the next point; and I don’t step on the lines.

What app on your phone do you use the most?: The UTR app.

Where is one place you’ve never been that you’d like to visit?: I really want to go to the U.S. Open or the French Open.

Are you a planner or do you go with the flow?: I’m more of a planner.

What is your favorite way to relax?: Watching hockey (go Pens) and tennis.

Would you rather be able to breathe underwater or fly?: I’d rather be able to fly.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?: There are only two things in life you can control; it’s how you spend time and how hard you work.

What are 3 things you are grateful for in your life?: I am grateful for family/friends, tennis, and food.

If you are hungry for pizza, where are you ordering it from?: I don’t have a favorite restaurant. As long as it has thin crust pizza, I like it.

Do you prefer to shop online or in person?: Online

Have you lived in the same house your entire life? If not, how many houses have you lived in?: I’ve always lived in one house.

What is one thing you want people to know about you besides being a great athlete?: I work hard to glorify God.
