2025 Hoggard Holiday Classic Day 3 Boys Recaps

No. 2 Hoggard 67, Chapel Hill 54

The Vikings got a much-needed victory after blowing fourth-quarter leads in their past two games. 

Hunter McGrath finished with a game-high 17 points. Hoggard (8-4) also got strong performances from Will Seward (15), Markell Murphy (12) and Desyn Durand (9).

A 30-23 halftime lead increased to 48-38 after three quarters. The Vikings were an impressive 21 of 25 from the free throw line. 

Chapel Hill’s (9-3) Makhai Manning scored 16 points. 

No. 3 Laney 57, St. James (S.C.) 38

Despite playing without two regular starters, the Buccaneers were able to build an early lead and cruise for the remainder of the game. 

Laney (7-5) held a 33-9 advantage at halftime. Sophomore Emery Brown had the best game of his young career by scoring 20 points on 7 of 13 shooting. He also came up with seven steals.

Colin Lamb chipped in 15 points and five rebounds, while Kareem Anderson had nine points and three assists. 

St. James’ (10-3) top scorer was Kingston Coles with 10 points. 

Wakefield 55, No. 7 Cape Fear Academy 52

A layup from Avery Hicks with 14 seconds on the clock put the Wolverines in front for good and capped a perfect 3-0 tournament appearance.  

Hicks then sealed the victory with a steal and layup as time expired. He scored 13 of his game-high 20 points in the second half.  

Wakefield (8-3) had two others reach double figures – Zih’Kee Dickerson (18) and Ethan Wisler (11). 

Alex Wolf paced CFA (9-9) with 20 points, while Luke Fascher chipped in 11. 

Holly Springs 49, No. 12 Ashley 46

It was another nail-biter for the Golden Hawks, who took the lead for good on a 3-pointer from sharpshooter Chase Olgine with 18 seconds remaining. 

Holly Springs’ (4-7) played three one-possession games, beating Cape Fear Academy 59-56 in double overtime on Saturday and falling to Palisades 68-66 in overtime on Monday.  

Olgine finished with a game-high 22 points by connecting on five 3-pointers. He led all players at the tournament in scoring average at 25.3 points. 

Jack Sauls and Samuel Webster added eight points apiece.  

Ashley (3-9), which battled back nicely from a 30-13 halftime deficit, got 17 points from Kahliel McKoy and 16 from Keyon Jones. 

Riverside (S.C.) 52, Palisades 36

The Warriors joined Wakefield as the only two teams to win all three of their games.

Once again, it was standout senior Sebi Boyogueno who led the way offensively. He had a game-high 19 points and finished second in scoring average at 22.3 points. 

Riverside (11-2) led 25-12 at halftime. Ben Sponaugle added nine points. 

Leading the way for Palisades (6-7) was Dillon Hill, who scored 12 points.
