A pair of pitchers – Gabe Abbott (Brunswick CC\/West Brunswick) and Brock Polilli (Tiffin) – combined on a three-hitter as the Ghost Crabs secured a victory at home for the third night in a row. <\/p>\n
Abbott started and pitched six solid innings, recording six strikeouts and issuing only one walk. Polilli earned the save by retiring all nine batters he faced, including three by strikeout. <\/p>\n
Cape Fear (6-1) third baseman Dylan Stacks (North Brunswick) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. His two-out single to left field in the fourth inning scored Drew Beard (Lenoir-Rhyne) with the first run of the game.<\/p>\n
The lead doubled an inning later on another two-out hit, this time from Trey Pierce (Brunswick CC\/WCA). <\/p>\n
Beard singled in the eighth inning and later crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice from Stacks. Beard also worked a pair of walks and stole three bases. <\/p>\n
