Game 1 Area II semifinals
Pitchers Dominic Civelli (Laney), Patrick McIntosh (New Hanover), and Hudson Southerland (New Hanover) combined on a one-hit shutout.
The Jr. Sharks (20-4) collected five hits and worked six walks in an 11-run top of the first inning. The highlight was a bases-clearing double from Fisher Goodwin (North Brunswick).
Leadoff batter Gibson Todd (Topsail) finished with three hits, including a pair of triples.
Game 2 of the best-of-5 series will be played at Buck Hardee Field on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Beulaville Post 511 12, Wilmington Post 10 Blue 8
Game 2 Area II semifinals
Beulaville took a 2-0 series lead by pounding out 14 hits and scoring at least two runs in each of the final four innings.
Catcher Braden Barnett (South Lenoir) had a huge night by going 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored.
Henry Bass (Clinton) went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run, while Reed Davis (South Lenoir) and Gage Howard (South Lenoir) each went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run.
Wilmington (11-8) scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to even the score at 6-6. Three batters worked walks, and two others were hit by a pitch. The only hits came from Colin Kilcommons (Hoggard) and Robbie Sutton (Topsail).
After Beulaville (11-7) scored three runs in the sixth, the home team got two back in the bottom of the frame on an error. The tying run was stranded on second base, and the Bass retired the side in order in the seventh inning.
Christian Atkinson led Wilmington offensively by finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs. Taylor Stewart (Hoggard) crossed the plate three times.
Beulaville will go for the series sweep with a home game at East Duplin on Tuesday night at 7.
